It was wonderful to attend and present at the annual International NLP Conference in May. To re-connect with the NLP and Coaching community, and find out about NLP projects, breakthroughs and achievements. Next year will be a hybrid event, one-weekend in-person attendance, another fully live online.

My presentation was well attended, with lots of interesting questions and sharing in the interactive sections of the presentation.

I asked the participants what is important to them about being trauma-informed.

Here are some replies from Coaches and NLP Practitioners:

“Because it affects your present and future”

“Because trauma impacts so many aspects of someone’s neuropathways. Understanding is key to our work.”

“Because trauma is so present in our world that my not being informed does not serve my clients.”

“Any client may have experienced trauma even if they are not aware of it.”

“Understanding it.”

“To know where I may be fully aware of my own or client situation.”

“To have the knowledge to better support, my patients and clients.”

“I have personal experience of traumatic grief so this is incredibly important to me.”

“I work with people who have experience of trauma.”

“To be able to meet my clients where they are.”

“I work with birth and early childhood trauma with teens.”

“It’s important to understand how to respond to it.”

“Lots of clients presenting with trauma including PTSD and CPTSD.”

“Understand people in a meaningful way.”

“I work with a lot of people who have suffered trauma.”

“Because trauma responses largely influence human behaviours.”

“To help others.”

“I’m so interested in trauma.”

“To move on with a new life.”

“Most people experience trauma in some form & I would like to understand more.”

“To be sensitive to individuals, me and the effects on societies.”

“To be safe and effective.”

I shared the release date of my upcoming book: The Trauma-Informed Coach: Strategies to support clients when their past prevents progress.

I invite you to consider what is important to you about being trauma-informed? How trauma-informed are you?

In the June 2022 Trauma-Informed Coach CPD certificate training, I will share unique models with the participants, and a preview of the ten core coaching competencies of a trauma-informed coach.

A few places remain.
