An emotional imprint is a habitual sensory or kinaesthetic response to an experience or stimulus, which has become generalised. IEMT explores the question: “How did the client learn to feel the way that they do?” and opens up the possibility of creating appropriate change in emotional lives.

About Your Trainer

Joanna Harper MSc has a Master of Science Degree in Transforming Integrated Health and Social Care from the University of Central Lancashire. Her master’s dissertation is a comparative evaluation of the well-established Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and IEMT principles and protocols.

Joanna is the author of The Trauma-Informed Coach: Strategies to support clients when their past prevents progress, a professional presenter, accredited trainer, and the Director of UK Breath-Body-Mind Foundation (BBMF) programs.

Since 2014, she has gained considerable clinical experience of Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) and is an accredited IEMT trainer who has trained and assessed hundreds of health professionals as IEMT practitioners at both foundation and advanced level.

Through her organisation Integrate Training, Joanna specialises in training practitioners in somatic techniques to support clients who have trauma or loss in their past. She brings compassion and depth of knowledge to her training courses and writing.

Joanna is an Approved and Certified IEMT Trainer and professional representative of the Association for IEMT Practitioners.

Do I need prior therapy qualifications?
No specific training is required. Coaches, therapists, NLP/hypnotherapy practitioners, counsellors, and related professionals are welcome.

Are the sessions recorded?
Yes. You’ll have 90-day replay access on our dedicated learning platform for review and integration (not for self-study in lieu of live attendance). Students are not recorded, only the trainer Joanna Harper.

How many cases are required for certification?
Three clients × two sessions each (6 sessions total). You’ll receive guidance and support to complete your case studies smoothly.

What is IEMT?
Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) was developed by Andrew T. Austin and is often described as a brief change work process which generates change in undesired emotional states and identity imprints. By teaching resources and skills inside the problem state, IEMT appears to bring clients more into the present moment and enable them to better stay out of past negative experiences.

Can I work with clients who have experienced trauma?
This training includes considerations for working with clients who have experienced trauma, distress and adversity. Joanna’s professional background includes extensive training in trauma-sensitive, trauma-informed and trauma-skilled practice. For IEMT practitioners wanting to deepen their trauma awareness and knowledge, Joanna also offers Trauma-Informed Coach CPD Certificate Training, which complements IEMT skills and training.
