Level-1 BBM Instructor Training Certification hosted by Integrate Training

This course is for participants who want to enhance their personal Breath-Body-Mind™ (BBM) practice, and develop the skills to safely and effectively instruct BBM practices with clients and small groups.

 

  • DATES:
    • Part A – April 24, 25, & 26 2024
    • Part B – May 1, 2 & 3 2024
    • Part C – May 8, 9, & 10 2024

 

  •  TIMES:
    • Eastern time (ET) USA 9:00 am to 1 pm
    • London UK time (BST) 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm

 

Prerequisite:

    • Completion of a 12-hour Breath-Body-Mind Fundamentals Course
    • Attend a minimum of 6 hours of BBM Classes.

This course is for participants who want to enhance their personal Breath-Body-Mind™ (BBM) practice, and develop the skills to safely and effectively instruct BBM practices with clients and small groups.

This level one BBM Instructor training is suitable for healthcare professionals, coaches, practitioners, therapists, yoga and meditation teachers, school teachers, military, first responders, EMTs, police, firefighters, disaster relief workers, and service organizations.

The benefits of Breath-Body-Mind™ have been shown to increase resilience and reduce the effects of stress in surveys of participating health care practitioners, individuals with mental health and medical conditions, children, veterans, active-duty military, and survivors of disasters.

 

About the training:

In this first of the three-level BBM teacher training sequence, you learn to teach the core BBM techniques to individuals for stress, coping with COVID, anxiety disorders, PTSD, military trauma, post-disaster, depression, ADHD, and stress-related medical conditions. Specific methods taught in this program include:

  • Ha breath – 2 ways
  • Breathing practices with movement
  • Coherent breathing
  • Breath moving
  • 4-4-6-2 breathing
  • Trauma sensitive BBM teaching skills
  • Breathing challenge observation skills
  • Sequencing BBM practices
  • Precautions in teaching individuals with psychiatric and medical conditions
  • Introduction to integrating Breath Practices with coaching, therapy and a range of wellbeing methodologies.

Increase your understanding of neurophysiological effects of voluntarily regulated breathing practices on emotion regulation, bonding, and cognitive function. Practice teaching while BBM teachers observe and offer suggestions for improvement. Attention is given to creating a safe container, tone of voice, pacing, the accuracy of instruction, and trauma sensitivity.

 

On successful completion of Level-1 Instructor Training, you will acquire the skills to:

  • Teach the core BBM practices to individuals
  • Assist in teaching BBM Introductory Courses
  • Conduct follow-up BBM group practice sessions
  • Offer guidance to beginners in these techniques of self-regulation.
  • Help develop programs in your communities and workplaces.

Participants who complete all sessions and who demonstrate competence in teaching BBM core techniques will receive Breath-Body-Mind Level-1 Instructor Certification. Those who are not able to demonstrate competence by the end of this training will receive a provisional certificate and be encouraged to attend additional weekly practice sessions to complete certification.

 

Preparing for your BBM Instructor Training Course 

 

Required reading and/or listening: Richard P. Brown and Patricia Gerbarg, The Healing Power of the Breath., Book and CD set or e-Book available on Amazon. Audio tracks can be downloaded. Available on Amazon.com or Shambhala.com.

 

To achieve level one BBM Instructor Certification you will need to:

  • Complete 18-hours – BBM Fundamentals Course (12 hours) + 6-hours BBM practice sessions.
  • Complete 40-hours BBM Level One Instructor Training – 36 hours live online training, plus 4 hours pre-recorded sessions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to safely and effectively guide others in Fundamental BBM practices.

 

 Course Fee:    $870.00 USD or £675.00 GBP

  • Cancellations are subject to a $75 – £62 administrative fee.
  • Cancellations after April 3rd, 2024 are non-refundable unless there are severe extenuating circumstances – with evidence.

Explanation of Precautions when Participating in Breath-Body-Mind™ Programs *

Welcome to the Breath-Body-Mind™ Workshop. You will learn ancient and modern techniques to relieve stress and improve physical and mental well-being. The practices are safe for most people. Nevertheless, some people may experience physical discomfort, particularly if they have had recent injury or surgery, joint pain, back pain, muscle pain, or a very sedentary lifestyle.

BBM practices can be done gently, sitting, or lying down if necessary. Listen to your body. If you experience physical discomfort, stop, relax, and tell one of the instructors.

Sometimes during the practices, emotions emerge, such as sadness, worry, or anger. Usually, such feelings are mild to moderate, short-term, and easy to manage. However, if you experience intense or disturbing emotions during the practices, please ask one of the instructors for support and guidance. If distress persists, ask the instructors for advice before continuing.

Please consult your personal physician if you have had recent surgery, uncontrolled high blood pressure, recent heart attack, or difficulty breathing before doing these practices. Breath-Body-Mind instructors may need to modify some of the practices for individuals with certain physical or emotional issues.

Please inform the staff at the time of registration and the instructors ahead of time if you have any of the following conditions: bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, autism spectrum, panic disorder, flashbacks or dissociation, acute or severe asthma, moderate to severe chronic obstructive lung disease, recent coronavirus with residual cough or airway sensitivity. If you have post-coronavirus airway sensitivity, you may need to do the breath practices more gently and avoid forceful breathing.

Also, please notify the instructors if you are pregnant. Pregnant women can benefit from Coherent Breathing. However, they should avoid breath holding, forceful breath practices, and lying on their right side (3rd trimester).

The practices being taught in this workshop are not intended to be a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment of any specific condition. If you suspect that you have a physical or mental condition, please consult your personal physician or primary healthcare provider.
